OLD TAUNTON COLONY CLUB

Please keep your dogs under control

A couple of recent incidents in our community require a notice to all about our four-legged friends.

Anyone owning a dog must keep it from running into a street or any public place unless accompanied and leashed. This is essential to prevent injury and/or distress to any person or other dog on the street or in their own yards. A resident’s pet recently suffered injuries after such an encounter.

Dogs poop. Their owners should be carrying a plastic bag in order to remove any “deposits” made during a walk, regardless of whether the location may appear to be an unused wooded area. It’s someone’s property. And the bag MUST be taken home for disposal, not left on the edge of someone else’s yard, as happened recently. No doubt the offender was not a Taunton resident, so please say something if you see this happening.

The above is required by law, and violators are subject to fines. Please see Medford Township Ordinances, Chapter 66, “DOGS.”

Thanks to everyone for your help with these concerns.
